Hercules Season 4
|
|
Based on the Greek
myth of Hercules, the son of the god Zeus and a human woman,
HERCULES achieved permanent cult status in its short four year
run. When Zeus' wife Hera becomes jealous of his relationship
with the mortal woman, she causes Hercules, in a moment of
insanity, to murder his own family. Now racked with guilt,
Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) roams the land, along with his friend
Iolaus (Michael Hurst), using his incredible strength to help
those in need, fight fantastical creatures, and bring justice
to all. Star Kevin Sorbo, resembling a Greek god with his
abundant muscles and flowing hair, brings a relaxed panache to
the sword-wielding title character, as he puts down the enemy
with ease and causes women throughout the ancient land to
swoon at his sight. In addition to Sorbo's allure, and the
expert swordfights and breathtaking battle scenes that make
HERCULES one of television's best fantasy action series, the
series infuses stories with a sly, 20th century pop culture
humor that helped to create a rabid fan base and spawned
countless similar fantasy/sci-series that successfully mixed
action and humor, such as XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, ANDROMEDA
(also starring Sorbo), FARSCAPE, and RELIC HUNTER. This
program contains the series' complete fourth season. |
Hercules Season 5
|
|
The number one
syndicated show on television for almost its entire six season
run, HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS was created by Christian
Williams (a producer for HILL STREET BLUES and writer on
NORTHERN EXPOSURE) and produced by Sam Raimi (director of the
EVIL DEAD and SPIDER-MAN series). Raimi's influence can be
felt on the content of the show, as HERCULES was marked by
creative, tongue-in-cheek writing revolving around the show's
mythical inspiration, clever low-budget special effects work,
and a playful sense of anachronism, all making it a likable
action show. HERCULES invents new adventures for the titular
hero of Greek myth (played by Kevin Sorbo), who is always
accompanied by his friend, the roguish Iolaus (Michael Hurst).
SEASON FIVE features 22 episodes of the program, with guest
stars such as Bruce Campbell, Karl Urban (LORD OF THE RINGS),
and Ryan Gosling. |
Hercules Season 6
|
|
The number one
rated show in syndication during its six season run,
HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS was produced by film
director Sam Raimi (SPIDER-MAN, THE EVIL DEAD). The show's
popularity was due to its humorous writing and creative
anachronism, both of which played off the show's mythical
inspiration, some clever low-budget effects work, and
likable characters. Hercules, hero of Greek myth, travels
the ancient lands of the world along with his partner, the
roguish Iolaus, righting wrongs and battling evil monsters.
SEASON SIX was the last year of the show, and contains eight
episodes, which find Hercules facing Amazons, vampires,
Titans, and many other dangers. |
